Dearest Darling Friends,

“It is an honor to be in grief. It is an honor to feel that much, to have loved that much, to have cherished that much.”

The conversation with grief must be one between a devotee and the divine. It cannot be a conversation between a victim and the villain.

Watch the conversation between grief and Raj, a dear friend of mine, who lost his dearest wife Lalita to cancer.

Grief – You will never love anyone the way you loved Lalita. Raj – That is true. I accept. Grief – You will never smell her fragrance again.

Raj – (Through an avalanche of tears) — It’s tough but I accept.

Grief: She’s gone, and she’s never coming back.

Raj – (Still sobbing) It breaks me but I accept. Grief – You will never hear that laugh again.

Raj: (with surrender) I miss it every moment but I accept.

Grief – (Seeing Raj surrender, grief disappears in the far-away horizon)

Raj – (eyes closed, hands clutched in prayers) – I don’t know where her soul is now. I do not know if she is already reborn. What I know is that I will love her forever. What I pray is, wherever she is, may she be very peaceful.

Raj feels a void that cannot be filled but he has accepted. Raj feels alone yet her presence is always with him. After all, love is forever!

My dearest friends, it’s an honor to be in grief. It’s an honor to feel that much, to have loved that much.

Grief… happens. It’s bigger than you and me. We can never be prepared enough for grief. If you have loved, there will be grief. Grief has one striking similarity with love. When one grows in love, they have as little power over it as they do when in grief.

Grief is a hugely intense experience. it’s not a weakness of the mind. It takes over our entire being — It’s something that impacts us at every level…body, mind, emotions and our spirit too.

The only way we can ‘control’ grief is the way we ‘control’ Love — by ’NOT controlling’ it. Bow down before its power in complete humility and only then, overcoming grief is possible.

With love, prayers and exceptional wishes,

naren

Imagine, when we wake up, we are given only what we had thanked for.
