Dearest Darling Friends,
Once there lived a great king who offered a grand prize to the artist who’d paint the best picture of peace.
Among the over 100 paintings submitted in the competition, the king liked 2 paintings very much.
One picture showed a beautiful calm lake. Its blue water mirrored serene mountains. Soft snowy clouds drifted leisurely in azure skies. A few birds were shown flying in the skies. A boat was anchored to the shore of the lake.
The other showed rough rugged mountains. Above, angry clouds had unleashed rain and lightning. Down the hills raged a tumultuous waterfall. Behind it was a tiny bush growing in a crack on a rock. In that bush, a mother bird had built a nest.
Which one do you think the king chose for the prize?
The 1st one obviously, you might be thinking.
No, he chose the 2nd. You know why?
Because peace doesn’t mean to be in a calm, unruffled place with no noise, no trouble, no worry.
Peace means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm like the mother bird.
If you have ever lost your peace over anything, may this story help you regain that lost peace.
With love, prayers and best wishes,
naren
