Dearest Darling Friends, 

Last week, one piece of statistics blew me away! It seems that the wealth of the richest 1 percent is more than the wealth of the remaining 99 percent. What !!! Really !!! Ouch !!!

This made me dig deeper and guess what I found?

The 80-20 rule is old. The new 90-9-1 rule is here ! While a few places where this rule applies is amusing, in a few other places, this rule is revealing!

Millionaires – Less than 1% people in the world are millionaires. Less than 9% people are working actively towards joining the 1% millionaire club. 90% people do not even think about being a millionaire.

(I am reaching there. What about you?)

Content Creation – Only 1% people create new content, about 9% use / respond to the created content in some way, while the remaining 90% just surf and do time pass.

(I proudly belong to the 1%)

Start-Up Success – Less than 1% startups succeed. About 9% start ups struggle and survive. About 90% startups close down.

(I have two super successful startups, one that is struggling and two that closed down)

Rising to the Top – Less than 1% of people get promoted and rise to the top. Their roles changes significantly with successive promotions. 9% people get promoted with some changes in their job profiles. 90% get salary promotions with very little change in their job profiles.

(I rose to the top of two orgs that I worked with. Cool, eh?)

Education – Less than 1% make it to the top schools and colleges in the world.

(Alas…I belong to the 99% here)

From Job to Entrepreneurship – Less than 1% people began with a job and went on to create a successful company of their own.

(That’s me – in the 1%)

You and Me – Reflecting on where do I belong in this 90-9-1 rule was a great reflective exercise for me. What about you?
