Being alone with our thoughts is scary for many. We escape it through vices and distractions. Scared and confused, we avoid what lurks unseen and unknown in the shadows.

What is lurking in the shadows?

Carl Jung brought the term Shadow Work to our understanding. Within it lies, some of the hardest but most worthwhile truths, to the inner work we do as people.

Depth Psychologist Bill Plotkin defines Shadow as “What’s true about you that you have no clue about. It is what you fail to notice about yourself.”

It is the deep parts of us that lie out of sight in the sub-conscious. It is like the root of a giant tree that nobody sees yet, every moment, the root feeds the tree.

We all have two shadows –

1. A positive shadow called the Golden Shadow
2. A negative shadow called the Sinister Shadow.

Everything that pleases us about others leads to an understanding of our Golden Shadow. Ironically, the Golden Shadow is something we believe is too good to be ours.

Action – Embrace these wonderful pieces of YOU.
Result – You will feel a Tsunami of inner strength!

Everything that irritates us about others, leads to an understanding of our Sinister Shadow. The Sinister Shadow is our negative traits.

Action – Acknowledge their presence and release them. They are NOT you.
Result – Watch your transformation right in front of your eyes.

In this life, some of our greatest lessons will come from understanding these parts of ourselves that we hideaway. Bring your shadow to the surface, heal yourself where necessary, integrate your natural goodness with your dreams, and live a life that is bold and beautiful
