Dearest Darling Friends,
Some situations have the capacity to get our emotions flowing and our hormones racing to dizzying heights. Well-fought victories, brave defeats, heroic efforts, and selfless gestures are such situations. Here are a few that have always managed to stir something deep within me.
*Anil Kumble bowling with a broken jaw in Antigua in 2002.
*Misbah-ul-Haq lying on the ground after defeat (to India) in the first ever T20 finals in 2007.
*Virat Kohli’s training to pull off an improbable victory at Adelaide in 2014.
*The waving of the Indian flag
*Songs like ‘Aye mere pyare watan…..’ by Manna De.
*A tree on barren land
*An old person who is fit too
*A belly laughter
*A complete melting hug
*Humility
Winning and losing in life is one step, in a much longer journey. I may win today to lose tomorrow to win again day after tomorrow. The wins and losses do not define me. The things I possess do not define me.
What memories do I remember? These memories are what defines me.
What stirs me? Whatever stirs me has power over me. That is what defines me.
To know this is to know yourself. Dedicating 2019 to a deeper search for this knowledge and refining myself off a few ‘ugly’ things that stir me too.
What do you want your 2019 to be?
With love, prayers and best wishes,
naren
