People are drawn to empathy. It’s an attractive quality to have in building successful relationships. The truth is, empathy is also the No. 1 quality of a leader.

 

 

Empathy has three stages:

 

 

1) Empathy starts with thinking about other people’s circumstances,

 

 

2) It leads to understanding their perspectives, pains and frustrations,

 

 

3) It develops into knowing that those emotions are every bit as real as your own.

 

 

Empathy results in we developing perspective. It opens us up to bonding with others. It culminates in leadership. And yes, Empathy kills ego.
