Dearest Darling Friends,
Leadership is less about holding the spotlight and more about becoming the lighthouse.
Earlier in my journey, I thought leadership meant visibility.
Being the voice in the room.
Having answers quickly.
Being central to momentum.
And to be fair, the world rewards that image often.
But over the years, the leaders who stayed with me were very different.
They did not dominate spaces.
They stabilized them.
I felt less lost and more found around them.
I felt clearer after speaking with them.
I felt safe around them.
I felt like ships adjusting themselves quietly because a lighthouse existed somewhere nearby.
The lighthouse does not chase boats.
It does not scream into the ocean.
It simply stands steady enough for others to find direction.
That metaphor changed something inside me.
Because leadership suddenly felt less performative. More about being present. More about becoming trustworthy in storms.
I have also noticed how difficult that is sometimes.
Especially when your own inner weather feels uncertain.
Yet, perhaps that is the real work.
Perhaps, that is true leadership.
Whereall do you think this applies in our lives?
- Parenting?
- Marriage?
- Friendship?
- Work?
- Social work?
Any place else?
With love, prayers and best wishes,
Change your thoughts. Change your life.
