Dearest Darling Friends,

Why sulking is such a waste of time?

James Clear writes beautifully-

  • Someone will start with more money than you.
  • Someone will get into a better school.
  • Someone will inherit connections you need to build from scratch.
  • Someone will get picked before you.

In other words, no one will have any problem in finding people with a head start.

That’s not the point.

The point is: when you get your opportunity, will you make the most of it?

Have you ever felt this way? I surely have.

Sometimes it feels like others are handed advantages on a silver platter – they’ve got the head start, the connections, the perfect opportunities already lined up.

I have also realised it’s easy to envy that. It’s tempting to grumble and think, “Why me?” But here’s the thing.

1. That kind of thinking is a waste of precious energy. It doesn’t help at all.

2. There are many people out there who would be right to feel envious of the life I have.

3. And I am sure, the privileged ones too are envious of someone else having an easier life than them, isn’t it? They have their ‘someone’ too.

Like they say, “The grass is always greener on the other side”.

What I have realised from the post of James Clear is that it’s not important how I am compared to others.

If I make that important, then, the sulking me will be so busy sulking that I will miss the opportunities that could have been my turning points.

I just need to be smart and alert and grab the opportunities life throws at me.

That will be the difference between the story of my life being ‘tragical’ or ‘inspirational’.
