Dearest Darling Friends,

In my interactions with folks in the corporate world, I often hear the words…

  • I am tired
  • I am exhausted
  • I am nearing burnout

Have you felt this way too? If yes, then keep reading.

Nearly 2,500 years ago, Taoist philosophers observed something we keep forgetting.

You cannot push a river. But you can exhaust yourself, trying.

The river wins every time.

  • It does not argue with rocks.
  • It does not strain to gain unnecessary pain.
  • It does not fight against gravity.
  • It does not demand that the mountain move.

It flows. And over time, it reshapes what seems immovable.

The Tao calls this WU WEI. It means effortless action.

That in turn means actions that ALIGN to reality instead of resisting it.

That is the mindset shift.

Alignment conserves energy. Forcing depletes it.

Look at your life.

Where are you…

  • Over explaining
  • Over controlling
  • Over proving.

Are you trying to convince someone who does not want to be convinced?

That is pushing the river.

Water is soft but it reshapes mountains.

It adapts.
It waits.
It persists.

Because it moves with gravity and not against it, it never tires out.

The branch that does not bend, breaks. That which moves with the wind, survives.

You don’t have to stop acting.
You don’t have to stop building.
Maybe, you have to stop forcing.

Stop forcing the river.

You are not tired because you are doing too much.

You are tired because of misalignment.

Alignment is not laziness.
It is the highest form of intelligence.
Work with life, not against it.
The river always finds the sea.

The most exhausted people I know are not the ones doing the most.
They are the ones fighting the hardest against what simply is.

What would change for you if you stopped pushing?
