Dearest Darling Friends,
Had to write about this one. I read this extraordinary quote by Tchaikovsky. He says, “Inspiration is a guest that does not willingly visit the lazy.”
Apparently, inspiration has trust issues. 😄
It only visits people who have already started working.
Tchaikovsky gave me the line, life gave me the proof.
“I am waiting to get inspired.”
How many times have we said that to ourselves?
And how many times did nothing actually strike — except guilt? 😅
What Tchaikovsky has said is brutally honest.
That line did hit me HARD.
Inspiration does not come to those lying around waiting for it. It visits the ones already working.
In Pune, winters is just setting in. A dear friend Barkha Sharma mentioned, she goes for a run early in the morning around 5.15 am.
Her eyes held an invitation for me. I looked at her and said, “I will come”.
Today was my first morning. I had so much fun. I jogged for an hour. Damn! That was almost unthinkable for me.
I jogged with an amazing bunch of people. There was so much energy.
Our trainer Pravin Zele, has run 1000 + half marathons and over 250 full marathons! Mind Blowing!!! In the picture, he is the one taking the selfie.
Even after one full hour of jogging, I was feeling full-on energy.
Last night was a contrast. Before sleeping, I had told my wife Bharathi, I will return and sleep for ‘AT LEAST’ 30 mins. On returning I am feeling so fresh, there was no need to sleep. I am so so so inspired.
What I realised it this – You don’t get inspired before you start writing, running, or creating.
You get inspired after you begin.
Remember those days when you didn’t feel like exercising, but showed up anyway — and halfway through, your energy kicked in? That’s inspiration showing up and saying, “Hey, I see you working… mind if I join?”
It’s almost like inspiration wants proof that you really want it.
It doesn’t want to waste its time on someone who will drop out after two tries.
On reflection, I have often seen this happen in my life.
I have a great idea. I hesitate. I think, “Let me wait till I feel ready,”. That idea has never seen the light of the day.
But the moment I stop overthinking and start doing something, however small, things start flowing.
A writer stares at a blank page till she types one great sentence.
A musician hums one clumsy tune before the melody arrives.
A founder takes one messy action before the breakthrough comes.
That’s the pattern.
Inspiration doesn’t lead effort.
Effort invites inspiration.
So maybe instead of thinking “I am waiting to get inspired,” let’s flip it to, “Inspiration is waiting for me to begin.”
Because that guest? It doesn’t come to the lazy.
It walks straight into the home of the ones who have already rolled up their sleeves.
May you DO something today so that inspiration find its way to you.
With love, prayers and best wishes,
Change your thoughts. Change your life.
