Dearest Darling Friends,
There are some movies that don’t just entertain you. They change your life. The impact they make is ever lasting. Here is a mention from one such movie.
The name of the Movie is ‘I am legend’. It is a 2007 American post-apocalyptic film directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Will Smith, who plays US Army virologist Robert Neville.
Robert Neville is the last human survivor of a plague in the whole of New York. He attempts to find a way to reverse the effects of the man-made virus by using his own immune blood. Anna Montaise is another surprise survivor of the deadly plague.
In a scene in the movie, Neville is talking to Anna about Bob Marley. “He had this idea. It was kind of a virologist idea. He believed that you could cure racism and hate… literally cure it, by injecting music and love into people’s lives.”
When I heard Will Smith (Neville) saying these words, I literally froze. The next few words brought tears to my eyes…
“When he was scheduled to perform at a peace rally, a gunman came to his house and shot him down. (Two bullets in his stomach. Docs advised him complete bed rest and NO MOVEMENT for a few weeks). Two days later (after the shooting) he walked out on that stage and sang (A full concert). When they asked him why – he said, “The people, who were trying to make this world worse… are not taking a day off. How can I? Light up the darkness.”
Light up the darkness!!! What an amazing statement to make! What an amazing way to sum up the impact of a legend on a generation! What an amazing thing to remember during a crisis.
Did this LSM, light up any darkness in you? That is why we write. And I am sure, that is why you read. Thanks for your time. Thanks for reading. May 2016 be dedicated to ‘Lighting up the darkness’.
With love, prayers and exceptional wishes,
naren
